There are several third party tools I use in day to day functioning of both my own websites and those I build and manage for clients that are both Business to Business and Business to Consumer.
This list isn’t exhaustive and I will be updating it from time to time with anything new I find that is worth sharing. There are affiliate links below, please read my disclosure here.
The NUMBER ONE thing I recommend is using WordPress.org to build your website. The reasons are many and are already shared for you here. “Why I Use WordPress to Build Websites”
The second thing I recommend is using a PREMIUM versus a free template for WordPress and one that utilizes a child theme. What that does is allow you to change the look and feel of your site on the child theme without worry about major updates to WordPress causing your site to go wonky.. (Yes it’s a word!)
2. Genesis Framework & Studio Press Child Themes
My preferred one is Genesis using Studio Press Child Themes by Copyblogger.
If you are an individual blogger or just have one business/website then you can just purchase the Genesis Framework and your favorite Child Theme.
Studio Press explained this really well on their website. Think of WordPress as the engine of your car, Genesis as the body and framework of your car, and the child theme is the paint job and trim.
WordPress is Free

If you are super excited and have decided you are going to build a website for all your favorite charities and every member of your family then I recommend the Pro Plus Package where you receive support and updates for all themes created by StudioPress.
Every theme they make for ONLY $499.95. That’s a $1200 value! and that’s the current themes and ANY themes they create in the future. pretty cool! (I admit I get excited when new themes come out… you’ve probably noticed I change this site around a lot!)
3. Grammar & Spelling… it’s important!
I rank myself above average when it comes to spelling and grammar but about a year ago I decided to try Grammarly and instantly found it was a game changer for me. I was always confused about comma’s, hyphens, and apostrophes, enter the punctuation pros at Grammarly! Now I just type to get my thoughts on the paper and don’t worry too much about the technical parts of my posts. Not only does it work in your blogging but it works on every site you are writing on including your social media posts. If you are using the internet to promote your brand you want to put your best foot forward.
There’s a free and a paid version of this program and several options for either your operating system and for the Chrome Browser.
